On 2 March 2023, the world-first Tanzania Ten Step Plan Project celebrated its 2nd National Workshop in Dar es Salaam. The workshop welcomed guest of honour Hon. Saad Mtambule, District Commissioner, Kinondoni, representing the Hon. Prof. Makame M. Mbarawa, Minister of Works and Transport, and many other key national and international representatives from the organisations involved in the project.
The workshop was the occasion to present the project’s achievements, results and key deliverables as well as to hand over the final reports and recommendations to the Government of Tanzania through the Ministry of Works and Transport, Tanzania. Furthermore, the Tanzania Road Assessment Programme (TanRAP), a key milestone brought to life by the project in September 2022, saw the signature of its Licence Agreement (MoU) and of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between the lead institutions and key stakeholders for its establishment and operation.
The 1st National Safer Road Infrastructure Workshop held in March 2021 marked the launch of the Ten Step project, which has already helped to embed improvements in how thousands of new and existing kilometres of Tanzania’s road network will be designed, upgraded, and managed for improved road safety now and in the future.
