Urban Road Networks: Benefits of a Public-Private Partnership Approach

In this publication the International Road Federation, and particularly its working group on Public-Private Partnerships, addresses the issue of partnerships for Urban Roads. The paper looks into the growing pressures on urban road networks, the specifics of urban road projects as compared to inter-urban roads and the particular constraints authorities have to face. Based on 11 international case studies into varying types of partnerships, a number of benefits of a PPP approach are identified, as compared to traditional procurement of urban road projects.
