This paper is concerned with the techniques of stabilising poor quality materials for road building as a means of providing durable roads at reasonable cost as an alternative to using expensive better quality materials that have to be transported considerable distances from where they are available to where they are needed. It is based on a review of documented experience of using stabilisation techniques for road building both internationally and in Cambodia itself.
