The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has prepared a major new initiative – the Sustainable Transport Initiative – to scale-up its support for making transport more sustainable. It is carrying out this initiative in collaboration with development member countries and in partnership with other donors, nongovernmental organizations and the private sector. The May 2010 Transport Forum in Manila was an important event for the transport community within ADB to discuss the Sustainable Transport Initiative and its implications for future transport operations. Equally, it is an opportunity for governmental and non-governmental stakeholders of ADB member countries and the Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT) community to enter into a dialogue with the ADB on the relevance of the initiative for them.
