Examining the Impacts of Restrictions Due to COVID-19 on Mobility of Elderly and Physically Challenged People in the Megacities of Pakistan

This paper uses data collected in Karachi and Lahore, the two cities in Pakistan with the highest populations, to examine transportation and mobility issues faced by elderly and disabled people caused by the measures taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The study found that there was a significant decrease in the number of commutes during the COVID-19 crisis. While walking and cycling were preferred in Lahore, about half of the respondents in Karachi felt it was difficult to commute using public transportation.
