These guidelines were developed by I T Transport and are aimed at transport planners and engineers alike, wishing to engage communities or groups of people in the rehabilitation and maintenance of transport infrastructure. The guidelines have been developed over three years from research conducted in East Africa, specifically Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. They also draw on worldwide experience from other development projects engaging communities in the sustainable maintenance of communal resources.
