This White Paper has been prepared as a contribution to the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. It represents the efforts of a small task brought together during the 10th Edition of the Challenge Bibendum, held in Rio de Janeiro in June 2010.
Fourteen participants, all high-level experts with various backgrounds, met during a one day round table session. In an effort to follow the global directions set by the UN General Assembly, the group asked a simple but difficult question: How do we achieve zero work-related road deaths by 2050? The answer was a global road map. Looking ahead to the years 2020, 2030, 2040 and 2050, with precise goals and crucial actions proposed for each decade. Such an ambitious undertaking has never been attempted.
This approach deserves to be publicized and disseminated, debated and acted upon.
