Dear Sir or Madame, Following publication of the World Report on road traffic injury prevention (2004) by the World Bank and World Health Organization (WHO), four members of the UN Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC) agreed to work together to produce a series of good practice manuals aimed at road safety policy makers and decision makers. The manuals published to date focus on addressing the key risk factors identified in the World Report. These manuals are: Helmets a road safety manual for decision makers and practitioners (WHO, 2006); Drinking and Driving - a road safety manual for decision makers and practitioners (GRSP, 2007); and Speed Management - a road safety manual for decision makers and practitioners (GRSP, 2008). Further manuals are planned. The next to be published (expected early 2009) will be on the subject of seat belts and child restraints, based on the Seat belt campaign toolkit (FIA Foundation, undated, published in 2004). This survey aims to establish the extent of use of the four manuals listed above, which organizations are using them and for what purposes. Feedback on the value of the manuals to users is especially important to the members of the UNRSC in judging whether to produce further materials based on the manuals and/or to develop manuals in a similar format on other topics.
