Welcome to the Global Transport Knowledge Partnership

The Global Transport Knowledge Partnership (gTKP) is a project initiated years ago and funded by UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office - FCDO (Former DFID) till 2011. gTKP is managed by the International Road Federation (IRF) (www.irfnet.ch) since 2009.

Over the span of a decade, the project has funded research on 9 key transport areas (rural, urban, climate, social, trade, finance, safety, ITS, governance) and has provided access to knowledge and expertise particularly for Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs) through a web portal (www.gtkp.com). Since 2017, gTKP portal hosts also knowledge resources produced by the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration group (UNRSC).

Thanks to a grant from the FCDO-funded COVID-19 Response & Recovery Transport Research Fund (2020) managed by the High Volume Transport Applied Research Programme (HVT) and the Research for Community Access Partnership (ReCAP), IRF has had the opportunity to transform and enhance the existing gTKP portal in order to fast-track access to knowledge, experience, learning resources and good practices on COVID-19 & Transport.

While addressing the emergency that COVID-19 has created, this transformation of the gTKP portal will also allow to support efforts for a transformative transport agenda post-COVID by ensuring that access to knowledge created within ReCAP, HVT and UNRSC is made effectively accessible and used to inform decisions for the recovery.

This comprehensive resource centre features a wealth of case studies, research papers, publications, reports, presentations. All at your fingertips!

To facilitate the navigation, we have arranged the information around 5 key sections:

Under each section, you will find a wealth of information, documents and useful links. Under the gTKP Archives you will be able to find the previous version of the gTKP portal with its numerous knowledge pages and resources.

The gTKP knowledge centre functions like a free on-line library and a gate to access other relevant knowledge repositories and resources. Users and other organisations are actively encouraged to enhance both the dynamism and interactivity of the portal by contributing their own knowledge and experience in the form of new reports, articles, case studies, research papers, publications, and more. Submissions may be made in any language. Reach out to us by using the contact form.

While we move forward in this journey, we welcome ongoing comments and suggestions as to how we can continue to improve the content and outreach of the portal to meet evolving needs. More than this, we welcome the opportunity to work with many other organisations in the transport sector and beyond to make gTKP a joint effort and a shared platform.

Sharing knowledge is key to progress in the transport sector. Together we can build a service that makes a decisive contribution to the achievement of this vital global objective.
